Safe Harbour Agreement invalid: CAS customers stay on the safe side
"The European Court of Justice has ruled the Safe Harbour Agreement to be invalid. CAS customers are not affected by this decision as their data is stored in German data centers", explains Martin Hubschneider, CEO of CAS Software AG.
“And while German software houses have had to comply with enormous amounts of data protection regulations from both the German and European authorities, international IT concerns were able to circumnavigate these regulations and even, to some extent at least, support government authority access to private data – all thanks to Safe Harbour“, added Martin Hubschneider, CEO, CAS Software AG while commenting on the EUCJ’s latest ruling.
Quality labels help when making critical decisions
With the end of Safe Harbour, Martin Hubschneider sees a significant upswing in the demand for software products, both from and for SMEs: “At the moment, quality seals such as ‘Software made in Germany‘ and ‘Software hosted in Germany‘ help consumers make the right decisions when it comes to investing in secure Cloud products. Any company wishing to use the seals is obliged to follow self-binding commitments, which amongst other things, help to prevent the sharing of any stored information without the express permission of the data owner as well as preventing back-door access to data“.
CAS customers are already in a safe-(data)-haven
“The recent EUCJ ruling declaring Safe Harbour invalid has no consequences for CAS customers as their data has always been stored exclusively in German data centers“, added Hubschneider. “Consequently, we enjoy lively demand from SMEs for our Cloud-based solutions and this demand is steadily increasing. In the process, we offer our customers the freedom to choose between: the trustworthy “Software hosted in Germany“ Cloud platform; or a private cloud on their own computers; or the use of a data center of their choice“, explains Hubschneider. “This is how we offer the necessary flexibility for any company, Cloud technology securely deployed according to the available infrastructure in each individual case“.
